Someone say that I'm not helpful. Nobody has ever say this to me before.
"If you can, you must help others too. So that people will help you" the someone said.
When i heard that, i was like... I feel quite angry actually.
That someone has only ask me for help once.
And that help is really ridiculous.
That day, it was afternoon shift. The someone came to me and asked "Do you have handphone?" Then i just replied "Yes" Then he asked " Can you lend the handphone to one of the patient?"
Then i looked at him. Our lecturers have told us quite a number of times that "Dun ever lend your handphone to patients"
So, i just told that someone that, can use the ward telephone as the ward also have the portable phone and can bring to patient and use.
And because of that, that someone say that i'm not helpful. Ridiculous isn't it?
And i dun believe that in this country, someone like him doesn't have any handphone. Why dun him, himself borrow the handphone to the patient?
I know that i got that kind of easy-to-bully face, and have that kind of easy-to-bully character, but that doesn't mean that i have no right to refuse.
What if the patient use my handphone and dun return me back and claim that the phone is his? What if the patient use my handphone, and talk non-stop? What if the patient use my handphone and when i want it back, he say that it's lost?
And there's lots more of consequences...
Did he ever think twice of the consequences?
If the patient talked non-stop, and then how will be my phone bills like? I not the one who pay the phone bills, it's my father who help me pay.
What if my phone lost or patient refused to give back to me, it's me who have to bear the consequences, not that someone!
If i lost the phone, it's me to going to face the music from my parents NOT HIM!! And what if my phone number got got hold by the patient or the strangers called by the patient, and keep calling to my number to look for the patient, or keep haressing. It's ME who going to suffer NOT HIM!!! Cause THAT is MY PHONE!!
So... in conclusion, i got the right to refuse to lend to patient. He got NO RIGHT to say that I'm not helpful. Cause that phone is belong to me.
Cause if anything happens, IT'S ME who are to bear for any consequences!!!!
If i ever to tell this incident to my lecturers or staff nurses or anyone, i believe they will think that i make the right decision. Do you agree?
PS: This post is unrelated to the previous post.
PSS: If borrow to my friends or people i know, at least that is ok, i will sure borrow to them. Somemore, that patient is not even my patient, i never nursed that patient before, i dun even know that patient and that patient is not under my care also. And worst, that patient is so rude, as i went to that patient and ask what happened. I found out that that patient speak hokkien and i told him that i dun understand hokkien. The minute i say this, " NO NO... I dun want this china girl......" WTH... dun understand hokkien doesn't mean that is from china oK!!
I just dun understand, why are there this kinds of people around. Sigh...
