Ha.. One week of my attachment had passed. I have face the same problem during this attachment - language/dialect barrier. And this time round, it is much much much much more worst then the previous attachment. This time round, there are more elderly. And, the language or dialect they speak are mostly the malay, hokkien and cantonese. The dialect that i know much better than other dialects is the hakka. And i dun think it really helps, or rather, it does not help. Hahaha. Cause, the elderly there does not know how to speak hakka. LOL. But nevermind, i am now trying my very best to learn the basic malay, hokkien and cantonese. LOL.
LOL. This attachment, i keep going around for help in translation of what they saying. I totally dun understand what they saying. The people who help me translate include the staff nurses there, yan sia in helping me translate hokkien, meena in helping me to translate malay and tamil and finally, other patient's relatives in helping me to translate the hokkien and cantonese.
Sign... why is there no dialect classes in singapore?
