Yesterday night, while i am lying on my bed, my whole mind was thinking abt when i first join the FJSB band. Ya... At first, i actually join the GB. Then, because of some reasons, my parents asked me to quit GB. Then, my dad say, u join the band lah. Then, when he told me, i suddenly got excited abt it. Ya... then this is how i join the band. And i join the band at a later time. Then after that, i still remember that it was a monday, after school, both florence and i wanted to join the band so we go look for mrs kalai. Then mrs kalai asked us when we can start going, then both of us say "we can go immediately." LOL. Then, we went inside the band room as there was band practice that day. I still remember, when we go inside, we saw a person teaching the theory. Ya.. and the person is mr toh. LOL. But that time I dunno that he is called mr toh. Ya.. And just nice that tat day, the sec 1s will be getting their instruments. Then, mr toh asked Florence to try out trumpet, and I just followed Florence around and like this, I was got into trumpet section. Very tyco. LOL. Then, I still remember my first trumpet serial no. is 18867. But at first, I did not memorise my serial no well that I got mixed up with the trumpet with the serial no of 18869. Ya, it was at the later date that I found out that I got mixed up =P
Ya.. then after that, we got the trumpet and started to learn to play it. Cindy and Qili are the one who teaches me trumpet. =)
Then, during the next practice, I still remember that I was sitting on the chair with Florence. Then suddenly, somebody shouted Band stand. Then, everyone stand up. So I just followed them. Then, I heard them greeting “ Good morning mee soto.” Then I was thinking, then name is very strange, mee soto. At that time, I was still very short. I can’t saw the person by the name of mee soto, even if I tip toe. So I asked Florence, “who is mee soto?” Then after that, she looked and me and laughed. Then after that she told me “ Is not mee soto, is Mr Toh.” Ya… when she told me, I was like… hehe…
Then, as days passed, Florence had lost interest in band and she stopped coming. It was Monday practice again, when Florence say she didn’t want to go for the band practice. Then I was kind of disappointed and scared. Cause, if she not going, I will be going to band alone. But, surprisingly, I still wanted to go. And I was alone in the canteen, imagine myself eating the food alone. Then, I was feeling sad and all that.
Then, at the canteen, I saw Cheryl, xin yuan, maryana, and xiao xuan. All of them also joined band. During class, Florence has introduced maryana to me before. So I recognized her. Then, I approached them. And dunno how, I found out that they also joined band. So, we eat the lunch together. And that was how I know them and become good friends in a later date. =)
As the months passed, got one period, the band is playing one game. Is like, somebody write letter to me but I do not know who is the person who writing to me. Ya.. till now, I still don’t know who is that person writing to me. Ya.. and so it become a mystery. Haha.
Then, still remember got one time, mr toh was talking to the band and then when he talked halfway, Qili asked me to sit between her and derrick. Then, so I go and sit there. Then, if I have not remember wrongly, derrick was telling me abt the theory. Ya, then cause mr toh was talking so I looked in front, but actually, I was listening to wat derrick say. Then, when derrick say halfway, qili scolded me, saying that I’m impolite. She say, when somebody is talking, must looked at the person who is talking to you. But, the problem is both derrick and mr toh was talking. Ya… so, after qili scolded me, I turned and looked at derrick. LOL. And since after that, I got this theory myself. When there are somebody talking at the same time, always looked at the person who is nearer to you. With this, nobody can scold me impolite. Especially when the person nearer to you is your senior. Haha.
Then, one day, xiao xuan, Cheryl and I went to stella’s house and practice the piece, legend of the ida glenn. LOL. Then, xueling teached me how to use the diaphragm to breathe and play. It was then I know how to use diaphragm to breath. Hehe. Then, during the dec 2002, it is the first time when I go music exchange at the Woodgrove sec. LOL. Then the second or third music exchange, the venue is at the Westwood sec. LOL. Then, during the first music exchange, the trumpet, trombone and French horn section from all school that attended the music exchange were gather at the woodgrove band room. Ya, at there, it is mr toh that teaches us. Then I still remember, I was sitting at a seat where the aircon directly blow onto me. Then I feel very very cold. So cold that I cried. Then everybody there were turning around and looked at me and I feel very paiseh. Then, shafurah and fadilah offered to exchange seat with me. But I refused. Cause I know that both of them are feeling cold too. Ya, and I dun wan them to suffer too. So because I cried, the tears flow out, I can feel the warmness in my tears. Haha. So, at that time, I was saying to myself, I can tahan the coldness. And, I did it. =)
Haha… then got one time, we were given a new score. Then shafurah was telling me that there is B flat. Then, I asked her, how you can see it. Then she pointed to the B flat. And I looked at it and was thiking, is it because it looked like B, that why is B flat? And I asked shafurah, how to see got F sharp or not. Then she pointed to the sharp, which look like this. Then, I was thinking, this symbol dun look like F, but how she know got F sharp or B flat? So, when I got home, I took out the theory notes that cindy gave it to me and start to figure it out. And after one or two days, I finally figured it out. LOL. I know I stupid. =P.
Then, after that, we were preparing for SYF 2003. Ya, at first, we choose legend of the ida glenn as our choice piece, but was changed to heatherwood portrait at a later date. Wahaha. Then, actually our competition should be on april, but because of SARS, it was postpone to July 23rd. Wahaha, I still remember the date because it was one day before my birthday. And we clinched a silver for SYF 2003. And the whole band was really happy. Ya, and it was my best birthday present too. =)
Then after that, that year, a farewell party was being hold. And that da, we played something like musical chair but we were passing a punch around instead of running around trying to get the chair. Haha, and when the pouch was landed on me when the music stopped and I was forced to eat the octopus. LOL. It was a disgusting thing to me as I dun eat it. LOL.
Then a year has passed and we hold the first FJSB concert, esperanza I and another has passed. SYF 2005 has come and no more SARS this time round LOL. And we getGold. And at the end of the year, we go genting for a international band competition and clinched a gold award as well. =)
During the sec 3 and 4, I dun need to say out the events. LOL. I mean… ya… i was only lying on my bed thinking myself during lower sec in the band. LOL.
Those memories were precious too..
And misheard the “Mr toh” to “mee soto” They do sound alike, I think. LOL. Or else, I will not heard as mee soto when the band was greeting mr toh. Hahaha.
